Robert Gumede demands justice for a black man brutalized at a golf club
The South African billionaire Robert Gumede has come out in support of Jabulani Mabilane who was assaulted by four white guys at the golf club. According to the Sowetan Live, this man was told that he is not welcome at the Nelspruit Golf club because he is black. Then the man was assaulted by four white guys and later rushed to the hospital. No one has been arrested yet!
Robert Gumede knows the golf club very well having worked there as a young man. He has voiced his views about the incident saying that the club need to take action against these members.
Wealthy black people in this country do not speak out against racism as often as they should. Understandably this is because they have business interests which may limit them to talk freely. This country needs people such as Robert Gumede to stand against racism.
What is shocking about the story is that police have not arrested anybody. Why do police not show same energy as they do in Fees must fall campaign. As a nation we should be at a point where racism become a jail-able criminal act. Wealthy people like Robert Gumede, Patrice Motsepe and many others should be putting pressure on government to tighten the grip on racism related cases.
Talking will not get us anywhere
Talking about racism is not good enough, we should be acting to crush it. We keep saying racism has no place in our society, yet we witness such case? What kind of seed planted in this man’s mind about white people? This injustice keeps growing its roots. I know people that will jump the bandwagon to criticize me for talking about the subject while offering no solutions to the problem.
Every time a case of racism is reported a black person is on the receiving end, something has to change here. I know some idiots who quickly say “do no have victim mentality” well idiot how do we avoid victim mentality when you are victimized daily?
I trust that there will be justice in this case but most importantly that our government will tighten the grip on racism. Hopefully more black billionaires such as Robert Gumede take action against racism practiced by white supremacists.
I have to commend the church for doing something about this. More churches have dialogues on race related issues which is quite encouraging, it is a good start church keep going. I have been vocally criticizing the church for not doing anything when it comes to problems facing society. Of late we have seen men and women going where the heat is and try to help bring solutions, I say a big amen to that.
Robert Gumede setting an example for us to not fight for justice
If you are reading this please hear my heart here. I am indeed defending black people who often times than not find themselves at the receiving end of racial abuse, at no stage am I implying that all white people are guilty and should pay. No am I promoting racial hate here, I am urging you and I to find a solution to a problem that keeps driving the country backward.
