MANDOZA IS A KWAITO ICON
Initially I was not going to write anything about the sad passing of Mandoza. However I feel compelled to. Mandoza died because he had brain cancer. His death is a great loss to South African entertainment. I would like to reflect at this young man’s life. Introduced to his music when the song “Uzoyithola kanjani uhleli ekhoneni” meaning how are you going to achieve anything if you sit in a corner hit the scene, I became a fan. The song inspired many young people to get up and hustle. A fit young man full of energy and zeal for life, always positive.
HE WAS A VOICE FOR THE TOWNSHIP YOUTH
Mandoza continued to be the voice for township youth through his music. Known for his lack of education, he worked and perfected areas deemed as his weaknesses. Releasing hit song after hit song and winning multiple awards in a process. Never did he brag about his riches. He knew where he comes from and he remained a symbol of a township kid who overcame all adversaries to become a Kwaito Icon.
MANDOZA UNITED SOUTH AFRICA
This man did what many artists are still today failing to do; the man united the nation so divided by the color of their skin through his music. Right now every white person knows what “Nkalakatha” is. The song Nkalakatha became the national hit.
Not only through music did he inspire many people but through his personal life as well. He managed to get married and stay married! He came out of drugs and inspired many young people.
MANDOZA WAS STILL A YOUNG MAN
Here is what makes me sad, the fact that he was only 38 years old? Yes he appears to have achieved everything as far as his career is concerned. But it bothers me every time a young person suffers through an enemy called sickness and death. Yes many people will say that these are part of our lives, I would say exclude me. Sickness and death is an enemy of health and life. We live in a society that sells and promote sickness and death. It is a huge business apparently.
OUR MIND BODY AND SOUL
According to Psychologists we are what we think about the most. It is a scientifically proven thing that our words create. As you read this article on a fallen Kwaito icon, I just want to add this to your spirit: God created the most amazing thing in you, the Spirit. Without God your Spirit is dead even though your soul and body is alive. When your Spirit is touched by God, your Spirit then comes to life. Your Spirit awakens to what God has done in life, but your mind is still not awakening to that. Your mind affects your body that is why the Psychologist say that be careful of what you expose yourself to.
ALLOW ME TO PREACH A BIT IN HONOR OF MANDOZA
So your Spirit needs to be alive and in that way it is open to God. Your mind will then come alive through reading and hearing God’s voice and his Word. This is called the transformation of your minds. This will affect everything that happens in your physical form.
I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I believe that God reversed every curse that was received through Adam and Eve’s fall. Therefore I believe that we live in Healing because Jesus has healed us through his scars. I believe that he gave us new life by dying for us at the cross. Through his death we shall never ever experience death again! I believe that he defeated death through his resurrection. He sits enthroned and glorified next to God. I believe that as He is right now so are we in this world. Therefore I believe that we are also sitting on the throne with Jesus Christ to rule and reign in life, where sickness and death are no longer part of our reality.
We mourn the death of this Kwaito icon. But I also want to make you aware that we are robbing ourselves of life in its fullness when do not believe in Jesus Christ the giver of life. Rest In Peace Nkalakatha.
